Greek Histories of Damsels

Andromeda's mother offeneded Poseidon. Poseidon sent out a beast to take over the land and the parents of Andromedas atttached her to a rock in the sea for the beast to come after. Persus slayed the beast rescuing Andromeda. The nakedness of Andromeda chained to a rock became a famous intrest for painters.

Not only are Damsels in Distress in fairy tales, but they were often very popular in the 1980's. She would be the one tied to rail roads as a train is coming along, waiting the hero to come.

An archetype is an original model of a person, object, or concept from which similar instances are derived, copied, patterned, or emulated. In psychology, an archetype is a model of a person, personality, or behavior. (Wikipedia) The Damesel in Distress archetype is popular in many films and books. She is usually the young women captured by a villian or monster that requires a hero to rescue her. Another form of a Damsel in Distress archetype is also in magic. The females would be the assistant of the magician.
